Marina International School Fair 2016

The event used to be an annual event in the High School and Mr. Seedy Bensouda a former student offered to revitalize the science fair in the High School.

The 2016 Marina International School Fair took place on Saturday November 12th. The event used to be an annual event in the High School and Mr. Seedy Bensouda a former student offered to revitalize the science fair in the High School. The Junior has had an annual science week culminating in students presenting their work to their fellow students and parents. This year with the support of an active Fundraising Committee led by Mr. Samba Jallow and backing from both Heads of School the science fair was tabled as a whole school event. It has been a busy term with students settling into new classes but students and teachers rose to the challenge of a new big midterm event. By early November the excitement in the school was palpable and support staffs were busy sourcing the many wonderful requests coming from the students for their displays. The event itself was wonderful and well attended; student's projects were many and varied. The Junior school students could barely contain their excitement and desire to show off their displays.  In the High School students remarked that they now felt like they were studying science and they looked the part. Parents and friends came out in their numbers to support their children. The judges were overwhelmed by the standard and variety of the science displays. They really took their time to engage with the students.Marina International School would like to express its deep gratitude to the Fund Raising Committee, parents, teachers, judges and support staff for a fantastic day. Thank you to all the parents who sponsored food and drink and stayed on to help sell the items. The biggest thank you must go to the students and teachers of Marina International School for producing such exciting displays. Although the accounts have not yet been finalised, in excess of D110, 000 was raised which will be used to purchase additional science equipment for both schools. We will provide more information on the final sum raised and also about how money will be spent.Watch this space!
